Brand guidelines are never the easiest projects to work on, no matter how straightforward the brand or its design components.
A designer has to know for whom the guidelines are and what the intended use is, among other things. Usually these things determine how specific the guide should be. A detailed re-combing once done is quite helpful in eliminating extraneous information.
After having worked on the original Cupcakes! app, and completing a second round of updates, it was time to create a set of guidelines for future designers. I started by gathering all components into a single document, and then piecing them together in a minimal, cohesive fashion that utilized our already-set look-and-feel.
