This illustration is not cupcake-related, and yet, when I look at this new pattern I’ve created of macarons, it’s all I can think about. I’m not exactly sure, but I think it has something to do with my obsession with
Cupcake Wars and that one of the judges, Florian Bellanger, owns Mad Mac Macaron in NYC.

The inspiration for making the macaron pattern arose from other Paris-themed pattern ideas I was exploring (above, a type exploration and beside it, a graphic representation of the Eiffel Tower). After deciding I wanted to create a food-related pattern that fit with the Paris theme, the macaron idea took off. It’s vibrant and fun, so it was the first one I ended up finishing! The others are still in the works and if I like them in the end, you may see them up here sometime as downloads. :)
